UK Based with travel to multiple sites across mainland UK and the Irish Republic.

This is a key role within the operational team covering the UK & Ireland Region, and provides a genuine opportunity for the right individual to develop both themselves and the range and quality of service provided to the business.
This is an important role within the UK & Ireland operational team, reporting to the Quality Director for the Region, with a dotted line to the Group Risk Director. The position will work closely with operational managers across the Region to support site management teams with their responsibilities in relation to Health & Safety, and therefore the candidate must be capable of building strong relationships with the different management teams.
The role would suit a candidate who has a science degree and/or relevant operational management experience of Health and Safety in a service/healthcare industry. Formal qualifications in the Health & Safety field (Diploma in Safety Management) and/or membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health would be advantageous but are not as critical as the day to day operational experience in the role.
The major elements of the role would be as follows: - • Close liaison with site management to ensure H&S activities are appropriately maintained and managed • Ensuring H&S training of all staff is performed & recorded in a timely manner • Maintaining the H&S audit schedule across the Region • Supporting site management teams to resolve H&S issues • Reviewing RIDDOR reports prior to submission to the Health & Safety Executive, ensuring accuracy and adequate supporting documentation both to reduce the risk of the incident reoccurring and to meet the needs of our insurers in relation to any claims • Provision of H&S reports on a monthly and quarterly basis • Timely escalation of serious breaches of H&S issues to the appropriate level of management • Formal investigation and documentation of serious H&S accidents and incidents
In addition to the experience and/or qualifications referred to above, all applicants should be able to demonstrate the following: • Possession of a full UK driving licence • Ability to work on own initiative demonstrating self motivation and drive. • Good communication skills (verbal and written) • Demonstration of a hands on/can do attitude • Experience in delivery of training
