Position Description
The Upstream Business Line (exploration and producing) of Saudi Aramco is looking for an experienced Environmental Professional to assist the Upstream HSE Team in developing and implementing environmental strategies and processes across our operating areas. The group is attached directly to the Senior Vice President of Upstream.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a Science or Engineering discipline, with a focus in the environmental field and relevant experience in , consulting and implementation roles in environmental systems.
- A Master's degree or MBA is an advantage but not a pre-requisite.
- Experience in the O&G Industry
- Background in ISO 14001 (EMS) implementation and auditing.
- Twelve (12) years relevant experience in internal or external management consulting in the required area(s) of expertise.
- Must generally be recognized by all levels of management as an expert in the field.
- Background in root cause analysis/incident investigation an advantage, TapRooT preferred, but not required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess Upstream environmental performance and help create an environmental strategy which is in line with corporate strategy.
- Create and track suitable leading and lagging environmental KPIs for each major operating area and set targets accordingly
- Help establish and rollout Upstream EMS, and carry out internal audits
- Keep abreast of all environmental issues and initiatives that pertain to Upstream
- Update management on Upstream environmental performance
- Review targets for Upstream and Operations Plan
- Perform quality assurance on Upstream environmental data
- Track progress on compliance and environmental mitigation programs
- Prioritize environmental findings by risk
- Coordinate with environmental Protection Department (EPD) and Upstream Planning Staff
- Support and advise operating facility management and environmental coordinators
- Keep informed of all international, government and company environmental regulations, standards, procedures and guidelines
- Review Saudi Aramco’s Environmental Standards relevant to Upstream activities
- Ensure Saudi Aramco standards are promulgated throughout Upstream
- Facilitate awareness and training for Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Participate in Environmental Steering Committee and help lead the Environmental working teams.
- Participate in investigations of environmental incidents and root cause analysis of environmental issues
- Write formal reports and environmental articles for Upstream and company publications
- Review EPD’s annual Environmental Compliance Report and ensure consistency with internal data
- Seek continuous improvement of Upstream environmental performance and alignment of efforts
- Review and comment on environmental aspects of contract documents. And work with EPD to monitor the environmental performance of contractor operations.
- Provide needed support for the implementation of the HAZCOM program including hazardous materials/chemicals inventory, chemical hazard bulletins, hazard signs and train-the-trainer programs and employee training
- Participate in the Company's oil spill protection programs and keep records of the latest response plans for such emergencies
