Job Description: 
Our client is one of the world's leading logistics companies who serve customers across multiple sectors. With responsibility for seven sites across the region, and funding for CPD's this presents itself as an ideal opportunity for a Health and Safety professional who is seeking to grow their career within the distribution sector. The company is particularly keen to bring someone on board with warehousing/ distribution/ logistics experience who has first class communication skills.
The Role:
  • Ensure that the company complies with statutory and legislative requirements with, particular regard to policy, procedures, systems, implementation, auditing and review, and where possible assist in establishing Best Practice.
  • Assist in the development of risk assessments and safe systems of work, and monitor their effectiveness in practice.
  • Lead investigations into near misses, accidents and dangerous occurrences, as required, to ensure causal analysis is undertaken to reduce likelihood of reoccurrence. Provide adequate information from the investigation as part of 'Lessons Learned' to share information and knowledge across the business.
  • Develop and implement training for health safety and environment, as identified at a company and site level.
  • Assist in the Audit process both at company and site level and monitor compliance with any audit action points raised to ensure they are closed out effectively.
  • Build relationships and liaise with operational and support management and Trade Unions, as appropriate, helping to develop a positive health, safety and environment culture and establish continuous improvement within the organisation.
  • Effectively manage the relationship of organisations which have a stake in health safety and environmental issues, e.g. Health and Safety Executive, Local Enforcement Authorities, Fire Authority, and Environmental Agency.
The Candidate:
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Management (or equivalent qualification)
  • 3 years post qualification, relevant health and safety management experience.

  • Minimum Grad IOSH, working towards CMIOSH

  • IEMA Associate Certificate in Environmental Management (or equivalent) .

  • Group Training Certificate or PTTLS Qualification .

  • Effective Communicator and Presenter.

  • Competent with Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint.

  • Current Full UK driving licence, the role requires national travel and occasional over-night stays.
